definition of depth used in photography

Dictionary definition: the distance from the tope of a surface to the bottom or the distance from the nearest to the furthest point of something.

 This images shows depth because the surface seems to be getting further and further away and it looks like it goes on forever.

 This image shows depth through the angle the image is taken. The objects in the front are in focus and as they get further away they go out of focus.
