Tone used in photography may include shadings or it may consist of darks against light (black and white). The use of dark areas against light areas is a common method of adding the feeling of a third dimension to a two-dimensional black-and-white picture.
In this image tone is shown through the colours of the leafs and then the shadows reflected onto them. This creates darker black colours on the leafs showing the difference between each tones.
For this image there are different shades of darker and lighter colours to show the use of tone.
For example: black, grey, brown, badge and white.
By using these colours it shows the darker areas against the lighter areas.
This image shows black and white editing, lighter grey and black is used to show the different tones in different areas.
In this image the lights and the object standing in the middle of the image are very dark black tones, then the flooring is a lighter grey and the sky is a even lighter tone.
In this image it uses dark blue to show a different coloured tone.
You can still see a hint of blue in the sky area and the clouds seem to have a hint of orange to them.
The building uses black and white tones to show the lighter and darker tones.
From this photograph you can see that very dark tones are used on the grass because the sun in the sky create more light. Therefore the tones in this photograph of the sky are much lighter.
Some of the clouds in the sky however are still quite dark tones because the light can not get through.
Some of the clouds in the sky however are still quite dark tones because the light can not get through.
This image shows tone through the lighter areas and then the darker areas.
The image does not use black and white tone it uses a hint of blue to show the tones between each colour in a different way.
Therefore this image does not have very dark tones because the blue colour is also quite light but seems dark when shown against the white leafs.
