Alfred Ehrhardt.

photographer one:
why chosen:I have chosen Alfred’s photography because I feel that it supports pattern as a formal element. I also found Alfred’s photography extremely interesting to look at because I feel that pattern is one of the best formal elements and I enjoyed taking the images. Therefore I think this is why I prefer Alfred’s images.
This image is showing the use of pattern through the shell itself, the lines moving around the shell are repeated to create this pattern. I like this image because of the way the background is black. Therefore I think this makes the shell stand out and you can see the patterns more clearly.

The second image is also a picture showing a shell. The patterns are also shown through lines inside the shell. They move round in a circular shape creating the pattern because it is repeated. The line coming off of the shape also create a different pattern because it is shown one after each other.
Another way of using this pattern is shown through this image. It is created by the movement of the sea washing the sand and making different patterns, repeatedly. I like this image because it is a good example of natural patterns.

This last image also shows patterns on sand in the same way as the first picture. However this image has a different pattern. This could be because of the direction of the sea it was moving in.
Influence: This photographer has influenced me by making me consider the background of my images when taking a photo. Further on in my work I would like to take close up photographs of individual objects again a black background like this photographers work. This is because I think they stand out and look a lot better on a plain background.
summary: Overall I really like this photographers work of the shells against the black background but the pictures of the patterns in the sand have started to become less interesting to me because when looking at the photographs of the sand the patterns are all very similar.

photographer two:
In this image it shows the use of colour phrough photography. This is bacsue it used a range of different colours and you can see the contrast between them. I like this image because I think the middle section of the photo standout and draws the eye to the centre of the image because it is bright compared to the green. It makes you focus on the tree.

This second image shows colour through the different buildings. I like this image because its a clear example of using colour in photography and I think the way the image
has been taken it makes the building look different from a simple why of taking the picture. The angle has been thought through.

This image used darker colours against the bright blue sky. This also shows colour because of the contrast between the light and dark. I like this image because it shows how you can show colour through any colour.

The last image is similar to the first image. It uses the bright coloursd to draw your eye to the centre. I like this image because it makes me focus on the tree and its a good example of using different colours in photography.

Influence: This photographers work has influenced me when taking photographs of autumn leaves. This is because I put different colour leaves on top of each other showing the range of colour in single photographs, just like how the colours are shown in this photographers work. I also used bright and dark colours like franco did in his work. This photographers work has also influenced me to experiment with different types of angles because in his photographs he used many different angles.
Summary: overall I am very interested in this photographers work because the use of colour really appeals to me. I feel that the more colours used the better the photograph because it draws the eye and seems a lot more interesting to look at. I really like how in the images of the trees they are the centre of attention and makes you eye focus towards the middle.

Photographer three:
why chosen: I have chosen this photographer because I think it shows a very good example of the formal element shape. I also chose this photographer because I found the photographs very interesting because of the detail they have in the pictures. I think by have the images in black and white you can see the detail a lot more. Therefore I have chosen this photographers work because I feel it is the best photographer I have looked at and would influence my work.
In this image you can see that a heart shape has been made. The objects look like old, dried out plants. However because they are against the white back ground you can see the outline of the shape very well and also the detail within the shape is very clear.

The last image is another one of my favourite image. This image was found in the book where I found all y photographers in. This image shows very detailed patterns on the plant that draw your eye. However the outline of the plant shows a very unique use of shape. You can see the the edges of the shape draw the attention because they are on the white background they stand out.
Influence: This photographer has influenced my autumn leaves pictures because I took pictures of different shaped leaves against plain, simple backgrounds. However my image that I have taken of leaves are not in black and white because I am using them to show the colours on autumn leaves.
Summary: Overall I do really like this photographers work. However at the start when looking at the images I liked the idea of the images being black and white but now from doing my own work of leaves I prefer coloured images.

Photographer four:
Why chosen: I have chosen this photographer because I was very interested in looking at his work. I think it is very clever the way he has captured a whole movement in one single shot. I have also chosen this photographer because I think it shows blurring/movement which is one of the formal elements I have been studying. Therefore this photographer work would link together with mine and I could use his work to influence mine.
This first image shows the movement of a dancer. The camera has captured each section, showing the final image to have the whole movement put together. I am very interested in this image and would love to try to do this in my own work.

The second image shows the movement of a bullet moving through an apple. Due to the speed of the bullet it creates the image to blur. Therefore it is the movement of the object not the camera itself that causes the blurring technique to happen. This image Isn't as good as his other images but I think it shows a good example of the formal element blurring/movement.

This next image also shows the movement of a bullet but cutting through a card. This image also shows blurring because of the speed of the bullet causes the image to blur. The same as the above image I don't like this image as much as the other work he has done but I think it's a good image to show a simple example of blurring/movement.

The last image shows the movement of milk when something has been dropped into it. I really like this image because I think the photographer has captured the image just at the right time in order to show the whole movement. I like the way the image is very simple but still so different from any of the other photographers I have looked at. I think this photographer would be able to influence my future work.
Influence: This photographer has not really influenced any of my work so far because I haven't taken any images that have shown movement of an object or camera. However if i was to take more photographs of the formal element blurring/movement I feel that this photographer would help me and influence my work to come up with better ideas.
Summary: Overall I find this photographers work very interesting to look at because of the way they capture the movement of an object moving when being thrown/dropped. I don't feel that from looking at these photographs that I would include it in my work because I feel it would be too hard to create the same effect.

Photographer five:
why chosen: I have chosen this photographer because I like how the images show the formal element blurring but the images are still clear enough to see. whereas when I was taking images to show blurring I found it very hard for the pictures to still look clear. Therefore this photographer I have chosen will hopefully influence my work. I also found that these images captures my eye when looking through the book where I found all my photographers from. this is because Ernst pictures are different to any I have seen before.
This first photograph shows the movement of two people running. This is creating the image to blur because of the speed. I really like this image because of the way the body outline, for example: the feet are shown more than once. The person running of the left hand side looks as if he/she has three legs.
In this next picture it shows the movement of the horses running which causes the blurring effect just like the first image. I like this image because of the blurring effect but also because of the contrast between the colour of the horses and then the colour of the background. I also like this image because its looks like the picture is almost moving because the photographer has captured this image mid-movement.
The third image shows the movement of the bull creating a force against the man. I think this image is quite strange but only because I wouldn't take ann image like this. The blurring in this picture is mostly in the background. This makes the image seem like its moving round in a circle because of the way the blurring effect in the background is moving.
This last image is my favorite out of the four images. This is because it shows the movement of the camera and not the objects in the image itself creating the movement. I like hot the movement of the camera has created the blurring effect at the bottom of the image and then you can see the horses standing still through the blur.
Influence: This photographer has influenced me slightly within my work because when I did a re-shoot of my photos for the formal element movement/blurring I concentrated more on the speed of the object and not just moving the camera and in one of my photographs of blurring it looks very similar to the first picture of the people running. This is because in my image the legs are shown to be repeated just like the first picture above.
Summary:Overall this photographer hasn't really influenced my work because as much as I thought it would when I was studding this photographers work. This is because I haven't included the blurring motion in many of my pictures. However I do find the photographers work very interesting.
